Stake your claim on your part of the internet.
Your web presence is your most important asset in today’s marketplace. Build a better mousetrap they say… Well, in today’s world, that’s the #1 spot on Google for your keywords.
Moving at the Speed of Life
You may have noticed, business has changed. The world has changed. You’ve changed.
I remember logging onto AOL the first time in January 1991 and being amazed when their welcome screen read: “Now, with over 75,000 users!” There are more than 2 billion people on Facebook today, more than 100 million people use Instagram every month. YouTube, Twitter, Pinterest, Snapchat, the list goes on and on. This is where the people are. This is digital marketing today. Where is your business?
If you’re like most businesses I see, you’re spending the marketing budget on yellow pages, billboards, print and maybe some radio ads. Rarely tv ads, because let’s be honest, when was the last time you paid attention to a TV commercial, let alone bought something because of one. For the last 10 years, I’ve been picking up every phone book that lands in my Overland Park driveway and walking it straight into the recycling bin. That’s definitely money well spent. The same for the piles direct mail that comes to my mailbox. I stop on my way in from the street and throw it all straight to the recycling bin without reading a word. Fairly sure most dollars spent on direct mail are to support the Post Office at this point.
Okay, now we know where people aren’t paying attention. Where are they? Look at any large crowd and I’d be willing to bet that a large percentage of them are looking at their phone. I’d also be willing to bet that your phone is within easy reach or like almost half of the people that visit this site, you’re reading this on your phone right now. You know what they’re probably not looking at? Your business’s website. Because it’s not mobile optimized. Or because they couldn’t find it with a simple Google search. Or they asked Siri and she’s never heard of you. Or your business isn’t on Google Maps so they can find you when they’re trying to drive to your location. What’s the first thing you do in the morning when you wake up even before you get up and go to the bathroom? I bet you check your phone first. You read your Facebook feed, check your email, maybe the news of the day to make sure the world is still here so you have to get up and go to work. This is where we are today. Your business had better be there too.
So, you have a successful business, you’re spending money on all these traditional forms of advertising but you’re not really seeing the growth you once had. I talked to a plumbing business last week spending $8,000 a month on their phone book ads and they don’t even rank on page one of Google when I search for their keywords. What are keywords you ask? Simply, the most common words customers are going to search for to find your business, or your competition. If your business is currently on page 3, it might as well not exist online. Let’s compare that to your competitor, the one at the top of page one. Google tells us, that website gets 40% of the total traffic volume from that search and 20% is spread between the paid ads on the page, and the remainder is for what’s left on the first page and sometimes spills over a little onto the second. My bet is, you spend a lot of money on your business to have a great location, probably a big sign out front and probably your website. But how much have you spent on your search engine optimization (SEO)? What about on paid ads on Facebook, Google, Instagram or even Twitter posts? How many reviews does your business have online and how good are they? I’d be willing to bet you have an email list of your customers, maybe thousands of them. When was the last time you emailed them to offer a product or service or maybe a sale? Email is some of the most effective marketing you can do with people that already like, know and trust you.
Okay, so we know where the people are, we know where you aren’t. How do we get you there? The best place to start is right at the top of this page there’s a big button that will give you a comprehensive SEO audit of your business website, completely free. We don’t want to just improve your business, we want you to absolutely dominate your sector. The only way to do that going into the future is going to be online, for all businesses. If a customer is looking for your product or service online but not finding you, the opportunity cost is huge. I can promise you, if you don’t, someone else is going to come along and snatch them up. Your competitors are already working on their online presence. Businesses that are the leaders today will be gone in 3yrs because they didn’t jump at the opportunity that exists right now. Imagine this is the year 2000 and you’re Sears. They had the perfect opportunity to be Amazon of today, but we see how that turned out. Somebody is out there right now trying to beat you at your game. Get to the top of Google. There’s only one number one. That doesn’t leave much room for everybody else. Let’s get you there instead.
